More Details:
LIGHT JOURNALS
A LIGHT journal is a step-by-step study through a book of the Bible for women and teen girls. Each LIGHT journal is similar in style to the others but with a different format to fit the book it's studying through! This journal specifically goes through the book of Psalm (part I). Our goal is to Live In God's Hope & Truth (LIGHT)! Check out our other LIGHT journals in our shop!
A "SPREAD"
Each couple of pages in the journal (the left and right pages when opened) is what we call a "spread" that goes over a set of verses from the book of the Bible we are studying. This helps break it down so we can take it a little at a time, to truly read what God has to say to us in a way that changes how we live. He is our life (Colossians 3:4)! We pray this will be enriching to you, to your relationship with others, but most importantly to your relationship with God!
INSIDE THE JOURNAL PAGES
- In a section > ten psalms: the first = chronological, the other nine = numerical
- “Chronological” psalm > These are psalms are ones that have headings with a description. Most of them speak about a time in the psalmist’s life that we can parallel with another section in the Bible. In the journal, we read the other section in the Bible in addition to the psalm to see why the psalmist might’ve written the psalm as he did.
- “Numerical” psalm > All the other psalms are studied in numerical order (only skipping any “chronological psalms”) and include the below in their layout…
- “By” > This is a brief reminder of who wrote the psalm. Sometimes it’s someone we’re familiar with, sometimes it’s not, and sometimes we’ll just put a question mark (because it doesn’t tell us)!
- Pondering it > This is the questions section. There will usually be two questions that help us think through what we’re reading in the psalm.
- I love this part > It’s as simple as it sounds — this is just noting any part of the psalm that stood out to you that you want to remember!
- Connection > As in all LIGHT journals, this connects a part of the psalm we’re studying to another section in the Bible that’s saying a very similar thing (because it’s all written by the same Author)!
- In this psalm > This is a unique challenge for each psalm! Whether it’s a repeated word/phrase, dialogue, question/answer, or other, these challenges help in seeing small themes in the psalm that we’ve just read.
- My prayer to God > And then it’s our turn to pour out our hearts to God. It can be similar to the psalmists’ words or not — the main point is for us to strengthen our relationship with God.
- Sketch challenge > Just for fun, there is an addition challenge: if there is a sketch on the page, then it usually matches a word in the psalm. Not sure what the sketch represents? Check out the legend in the front of the journal!
- Notes page > In each section, one of the ten psalms is selected to think more deeply through it. And next to it is a thinking space for you to jot your own thoughts about it as you go!
- Verse coloring > A powerful section of a verse ready to be colored, also with a thinking space page.
