about Evergreen Cypress
It all started in the summer of 2019. I had just finished teaching a 4th-6th grade girls’ evening Bible class and was preparing to start a teen girls’ group at our home congregation, West Side church of Christ. But I knew the girls needed something personal with which to study the Bible — and that it needed to be tangible, practical, and cute.
That’s where the LIGHT journals and Radiant journals were born, studying a book and chapter of the Bible respectively.
And that fall, we started LIGHT group, a time when the teen girls came to eat dinner and study the Bible together with these journals in our homes, and we continued Radiant, the evening class with our 4th-6th grade girls, with a specific Radiant journal. Now five years later, I still create two new journals every fall and spring for our girls — and now for women of any age wanting to dive deeper in studying the Bible.
Then in the summer of 2023, we realized that it was a common theme as women in Christ to want to study the Bible consistently but to be frustrated because we can never seem to make it work. And so we started another series of Bible study journals more specifically geared toward women, no matter what season of life, that go through a passage or theme of the Bible every month — the everseeking subscription. And we have loved getting the feedback of our subscribers all over the country who are conquering the struggle and seeking God consistently.
Whether studying the Bible with our pre-teen and teen girls or studying with other women in Christ, we are honored and committed to sharing the love of the Word of God.
It is our mission.
Because to know God’s Word is to know him, our Evergreen Cypress — and there is nothing else in this world that is better than that.
“It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; from me comes your fruit..” Hosea 14:8

What we believe…
We believe first of all in one God shown as the Father, the Son Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
“…yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.” 1 Corinthians 8:6
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God….. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.” John 1:1, 14, 18
“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.” John 15:26
We believe that we have sinned and deserve eternal death and that the only way to be free is through Jesus. We believe he died and rose from death for us so that by believing and being baptized into him, we accept his redemption and eternal life, his story becoming our own.
“…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” Romans 5:8-9
”…but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
And we believe that we have the truth in the Word of God, the standard by which we know right from wrong, and that it is alive and at work in us who believe.
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
“And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
So we do everything to know the Bible more deeply so we know the story of God and his people (now us!) and so we ultimately truly know God himself.
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3
