September journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the August mailer with the September journal!

There was a time when being a Christian was brand new.

It wasn’t easy to choose to follow Christ, as a Jew or as a Gentile. Christ crucified was a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles (1 Corinthians 1:23). But for those who first believed, it didn’t matter what others thought - because they knew that what they gained in Christ far outweighed anything on earth.

They were people just like us, those who were seeking truth and finding it in Jesus.

This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying for September 2024! So let’s take a closer look at everything in our study and the mailer…

The journal

There are so many ways to look at what happened in those first days. What was life like for those who first believed before they heard about Jesus? Who did God work through and how did he let them know the good news? What was God’s plan to spread the fulfillment of the Truth for the first time? So we look at places, people, and more of those who first believed!

We may not have walked and talked with Jesus, but God gave us four faithful accounts of what it was to walk and talk with Jesus - not just from the people’s perspective, but the closest witnesses. So we know what Jesus said, how he taught, and what he asked his followers to do. And that should give us an amazing perspective as these followers talk about him to those who are then the first to believe in Jesus, the Christ.

Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.

But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, we have something for you! There are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.

So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!

So what did those who first believed do? In this journal, we look at sections of Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 4:32-36 and answer that question!

Because the story doesn’t end with them just believing in the moment. They were added to the Family of God, the church, and life changed eternally for them, as it does for us! They belong, just as we do, to the Bride of Christ and together eagerly wait for him.

So in the optional pages, we look at what the believers did after they were baptized into Christ - the “marriage” after the “wedding.” Even though these are both excerpts from those in Jerusalem, it’s the template for the others and for us today! And so we look at

The washi tape

As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!

This month’s washi tape is a small botanical print and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! There are so many times when we just need a good places to write down our thoughts. This notebook is just a way to organize what we’re thinking. Whether it’s more personal notes you want to add from the study of the month, or other Bible study notes from class or a sermon, you can gather all of your thoughts and think through them again later!
