October journal “unboxing”
This is the “unboxing” of the September mailer with the October journal!
When Jesus came to earth, he didn’t consider equality with God something to be grasped. Moreover, he claimed no title as king, although his kingdom would be the only one that will last forever. Instead, he decided to live like us in every way.
But he didn’t stop there. He became despised and rejected. He allowed himself to die. And not just any death, but the most cruel death imaginable — a death we cannot comprehend on the spiritual realm. But he did it.
Jesus gave up all of these things and more so we could be with him. And even though not everyone he died for may accept his gift, Jesus still gave it all up to give us the option to be His.
This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying for October 2024! So let’s take a closer look at everything in our study and the mailer…
The journal
Of all of the people who walked on this earth, no one deserved a better life than Jesus.
This world wouldn’t have been made without him — he is the one who holds it all together (Colossians 1:16-17). And yet, the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).
Even what he had, he gave up. Whether it was something physical, emotional or social, something that was part of his rights or even that required his life... Jesus willingly gave them all up.
That’s not to say it was easy. The gospels let us see Jesus, kneeling in prayer to find another way, in earnest and in agony before he had to give up everything.
Sometimes we want to look the other way, unable to think about that much pain.
But the pain is inevitable to us. The only thing is now instead of having to go through it ourselves, Jesus did it for us. Because even if we paid for our sins, we couldn’t save ourselves.
There was only one who could. And he did. On our behalf, Jesus gave these things up... so we could be given salvation and eternal life with him.
Studying through this takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.
But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, there are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.
So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!
So in the optional pages, we look at what happened because of what Jesus gave up.
When he died, the curtain of the temple was torn in two. The earth shook.
There’s so much we don’t understand of what happened in the spiritual realm because of what Jesus did. But God has still revealed a lot to us. Jesus gave all of these things up for a reason.
And in looking through those reasons, it helps us have deep and eternal gratitude that Jesus chose to follow through and give those things up… for us.
The washi tape
As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!
This month’s washi tape is a autumn themed pattern and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.
Retro color pens
The next “extra” is a couple of retro color pens!
We can truly never have enough pens. And for the fall season, we wanted to share rich colors to fill the inside of the October journal. So each everseeker received two fun pens with which to study and decorate the inside of their journal!
BONUS: cute journaling pouch
And for this month, we had an early bird bonus of a cute journaling pouch! It’s lovely to be able to sit down and study with all of our supplies in one spot — whether we’re in our spot at home or we’re traveling. We love every one of these colors — terracotta, sand tan, blush pink, and soft teal — and loved gifting one to each everseeker that joined by the deadline.
We even tried to see how much the journaling pouch will hold and it fit all of our many (many) pens, highlighters, washi tape, and anything else we use to study!
And that’s a wrap!
And that’s a wrap for the October journal that came in the September mailer! We loved putting this one together for our subscribers.
If you are an everseeker, we would love to hear your feedback on this journal and mailer, whether on our social media posts or through email.
And if you aren’t a subscriber, we have a spot saved for you for the next available mailer, with the next journal and extras! This is only available for those who subscribe by the first of the month — so don’t miss out!
Every month is new and exclusive as a whole, so join us in being everseeking of God with consistent Bible study at evergreencypress.com/everseeking!
