August journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the July mailer with the August journal!

How do we treat God’s Word?

Is it something precious to us? Or is it there as a backup in case life goes sideways?

Psalm 119 is a masterpiece in showing us what God’s Word should mean for us. It’s so simple and yet so intricate. What God says isn’t just a set of instructions — it is a treasured conversation and we don’t want to miss a single word.

And Psalm 119 gives a look into what it looks like when we wholeheartedly love God’s Word.

This is what our everseeking subscribers are studying for August 2024! So let’s take a closer look at everything in our study and the mailer…

The journal

Psalm 119 is divided into 22 sections, but not randomly, as it may seem to us. It’s the Hebrew alphabet! And each sentence in each section starts with that particular letter of the alphabet. Just like hearing the completion of a rhyme, this psalm brings the life of God’s Word in a satisfyingly sweet way. You will see the Hebrew letter (or two) in the corner of the page, the verse set that goes with it, and then a note at the bottom as we think through it!

So we take it one section at a time — for example, for Psalm 119:105-112, there are certain things that the psalmist says he will do. In Psalm 119:113-128, it specifically talks about God’s way vs our way. And on it goes! Each section has something specific for us to look at and that’s what we do, one day at a time until we’ve gone through all of Psalm 119!

Studying Psalm 119 takes us through the main 20 days of study. As in every everseeking journal, the “main study” can be done in 20 days because we all have those moments where we get behind, so this gives a little room.

But if you’re studying every day and get to day 20 and you still have 10 more days in the month, we have something for you! There are 10 extra pages of the journal (called “optional pages”) that take a deeper look at what we already studied.

So whether you complete the main study with the 20 pages or the main 20 + the optional 10, you have succeeded in spending the month studying the Word of God!

In this journal, we continue in the creativity of this Psalm! You can either take your pick or do each one. We have…

  • A verse coloring section about God’s Word

  • A create-your-own-psalm section, starting each phrase with the same letter of the alphabet

  • A frequent word section, looking at the same word scattered throughout Psalm 119

…because we want to see how to love God’s Word, to remind ourselves how beautiful it is, and to let it become entwined with our daily life!

The washi tape

As always, every everseeking journal comes with it’s set of washi tape: solid and patterned!

This month’s washi tape goes with the greenery of the lemon print and a similar solid color washi tape! We use these for highlighting certain thoughts, creating tabs throughout the journal, decorating, adding extra notes (scrapbooking style), color coding, and more! For more details, check out our “How to use washi tape for Bible journaling” blog at https://www.evergreencypress.com/blog/how-to-use-washi-tape-for-bible-journaling.

The lemon magnetic notepad

The next “extra” is a lemon magnetic notepad !

Matching the lemon print theme, this notepad is a go-to for all of your notes! You can write extra notes from your study to stick in the journal or keep on the fridge to remember; you can keep it handy or on the fridge to jot down any notes; you can even just use it for your grocery list! Enjoy the cute extra space for your thoughts.

And that’s a wrap!

And that’s a wrap for the August journal that came in the July mailer! We loved putting this one together for our subscribers.

If you are one, we would love to hear your feedback on this journal and mailer, on our social media posts or through email.

And if you aren’t a subscriber, we have a spot saved for you for the August mailer with the September journal and its extras! This mailer is only available for those who join by August 1st! And the revealed theme of the September journal is… “Those who first believed.”
