Evergreen Cypress is all about nurturing teen girls, preteen girls (and women!) to find a closer relationship with God, which comes by spending beautiful time in his Word.

Whether you are younger or more mature in your faith, and whether you are weary or full of encouragement, we invite you to join us as we seek to daily be at home with the Bible and at home with God.

Everseeking is a subscription that delivers a new Bible study journal (with matching extras) to your doorstep every month! We want to be women who seek God first (Matthew 6:33) and always (Psalm 27:4). And this encouragement for us to do just that!

FAQs

  • An exclusive newly-themed 30-day Bible study journal + cute extras to match (ex: washi tape, journaling items)!

  • Everseeking mailers are sent out around the 15th of the month. This is so you can have the next month’s journal ready to go! For example, to start your November study, you’d need your journal in October — “October mailer, November journal.”

  • The journal has a different design and study theme every month but the same format: 20 days of the main study and 10 optional days of deeper study. This is to give you time to catch up if you get behind in the month, but encouraging being in God’s Word daily as the ultimate goal. Every month is a new and fresh start!

Want to start teaching teen girls but not sure where to start? We put something together just for you! This is our Teacher Starter Kit that has 1 Radiant journal (for pre-teen girls) + 1 LIGHT journal (for teen girls) + 1 Teacher Guide Workbook (talking through how to reach them) + a free trial of Teacher Membership (more info below)!

Our teen and pre-teen girls in our home congregation are our inspiration for what we do in Evergreen. What we learned over the last few years of diligently learning what they need and connecting with them we have spent months in putting together into this more premium product, the Evergreen Model!

This is all about encouragement and resources! Encouragement: we are building a community of women in the church who are training the younger generations of women in Christ. We spend time answering questions and encouraging those who encourage! Resources: all the released studies, which give you everything you’d need and more to teach through a book of the Bible/LIGHT journal! Let’s all keep our lamps burning together (Luke 12:35).

Sharing the Truth

It doesn’t take much. When I was a teen girl in the church, there were those who taught me and mentored me. Their encouragement in God meant everything— but it wouldn’t have been true love if they didn’t share in truth. And to share the truth, they had to know it— deeply.

That is our goal at Evergreen: for us as women to truly know God’s Word and to then share it with other and younger women who need him as much as we do.

We started this at our own home congregation, West Side Church of Christ, and have been amazed at what God has done. We are honored to be his hands and feet. And it is our prayer that you will, too. For his glory and so that all may know him, which is eternal life (John 17:3).

Purpose

“O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; from me comes your fruit.” Hosea 14:8

Being with God is like nothing else we could ever know. He is what our soul desires. He has nothing to do with empty promises of idols (why do we hold to them?) but instead he gives us life — abundantly (John 10:10).

God alone answers us and cares for us. He is our evergreen cypress. And when we spend time with him, we are home.

True love in the gospel of John

Of all of the gospels, the gospel of John mentions the word love the most. We get to see so much of Jesus’s time on earth and one thing is clear throughout all of it: the true love of God. Jesus loves each person that he sees. He knows them, he knows they’ve sinned, and he’s ready to die so they wouldn’t be doomed to hell forever.

Even more amazing — this beautiful love continues to us today. Jesus knows us, knows we’ve sinned, and yet died so we wouldn’t be doomed to hell forever either. And in his Word, we get to know just how much God so loved the world (John 3:16) and the extent of what that love means for us (John 15:12).

February journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the January mailer with the February journal!

“So God created man in his own image...” (Genesis 1:27)

It’s two-fold: not only is God our Creator and knows every part of who we are, he also made us to bear his image. So when God asks something of us, he’s not someone random trying to make an outdated request. He is giving us something very intentional and specific.

And so he said, “...you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” (Mark 12: 30, mirroring what God said centuries before in Deuteronomy 6). His request hasn’t changed (although Jesus does add “all your mind” in the New Testament): we love God with everything.

He doesn’t need it - we need it. And when we love our Creator with our all, we are complete. So we take it one part at a time and see how we can love God - with our all.

January journal “unboxing”

This is the “unboxing” of the December mailer with the January journal!

Before kings existed here on earth, the King of all ruled. And long after kings cease to exist, our King will still rule. And we are so thankful He does. We as God’s people have always been able to look to him at any time in the history of the world.

We may get tired, fighting on the battleground of life, trying to conquer temptations and keep the faith - but we are not alone. Because at any time, we can look to our King who is present above the chaos, and as we look at his radiant face we know that despite the battles, the war is already won. He gives us the strength to keep fighting. He gives us hope that is found nowhere else. Other kings/gods have tried to rule, but God alone remains (Isaiah 26:13).

So as we look at different kings, some who tried to mimic the King and some who didn’t, there is only One who remains forever and deserves our honor and praise ... the Last King.
