FAQs
What is the current journal?
The current journal is 1 Peter! (Previous studies are Ephesians and Luke.)
What are the Bible study videos?
There is a video for every few verses (as seen in each journal spread of the corresponding journal). These Bible study videos are about 2-5 minutes long (bite-size!) of Rebecca talking through the few verses so you can take it a little at a time or learn with several together! If you are going through it with the journal, the connection verse is also briefly discussed.
What is a journal spread?
A journal spread is two pages (left and right when open) in a LIGHT Bible study journal that go over a set of verses within the book we are studying. (For example: pages 2-3 of the 1 Peter journal go over 1 Peter 1:1-2, pages 4-5 go over 1 Peter 1:3-5.)
Do I have to use a journal to use the LIGHT membership?
No - the videos, thoughts, and journaling prompts all refer back to Scripture as does the journal, but the LIGHT membership and journals do coordinate to work together.
What are the thoughts?
The thoughts are additional takeaways (that might not be mentioned in the videos) from the same set of verses (journal spread) for deeper study. These include other connecting verses to see God’s Word as a whole!
What are the journaling prompts?
Journaling prompts are questions for the same set of verse (journal spread) to help us think about what we’ve read and how it makes a difference in our lives.
Is the journal available within the membership or do I need to buy one separately?
As a bonus, the membership does include a printable download of the current journal in parts as we go through it. For example, if we study 1 Peter chapter 1 in September, so that chapter is available to download then, chapter 2 will be available to print in October and etc. (This is only only for personal printing and use only as a member.)
Are there other sets of journaling prompts?
Yes, in the journaling planners (one for each week).
What are the journaling planners?
The journaling planners are digital/ printable downloads that you access within the membership. Each month, a new journaling planner is available that helps us plan from both perspectives of our lives: our everyday tasks and event but also our daily walk with Christ. It gives room to intentionally plan for time with God and to write follow-up thoughts from what stood out to us (to keep it to the forefront of our minds)!
Do I have to study from the current journal?
Not at all! Although the encouragement is based on the current book of the Bible being studied, it does not depend on your study of that book of the Bible at the time.

How long can I access previous courses?
For as long as you are an active member!
How often are there new Bible study videos/thoughts/prompts in the library?
There are new videos added little by little for the current journal every month and sometimes every week. This is just for your use as it fits in how you’ve decided to stay consistent in studying God’s Word.
What are the bonuses?
Along with the print-as-we-go current journal download, there are a couple of other bonuses. Within the membership, you can sign up for twice-weekly encouragements. These are short bits of encouragement for you throughout the week.
We are also implementing monthly lives to review the section or chapter of the Bible that we are studying as a whole.
And if we have your address, we may tend to mail out surprises once in a while ;)
There’s always been something special about the Bible.
I grew up knowing the Bible. I learned its stories as a child, its importance as a grade-school kid, and its truth as a teen. And that’s when it became personal.
The difference the Bible made in the lives of those around me was obvious. And I wanted to know how it could make a difference in mine.
So that’s when I took more time to study the Bible, and it meant everything to me. The words in it consistently told the same bigger story and the details found in one part of the Bible matched the details found in another part.
It is so beautiful! And, when it’s lived out, it makes life beautiful.
There are still days I forget to read the Bible and there are seasons when it’s harder to be diligent than others. But I do know that when I don’t read the Bible, I miss it.
Because knowing the Bible means knowing God.
And knowing God means everything to me. And I pray it does to you, too.
If you need encouragement to stay consistent, to dig deeper in God’s Word, or to just live what we read, we hope you’ll find that in the LIGHT membership!
